How to prepare for your Permanent Makeup
Permanent Makeup Prep happens as soon as you book the appointment! Keeping the skin healthy, moisturized, and your body hydrated leading up to your appointment will always result in an easier tattoo process for me (thank you!) and a better healed result for you! Location specific (Brows, Lips, Eyeliner) tattoo prep will be emailed to you separately but here are some major rules of thumb below;
You cannot receive Permanent Makeup if:
Pregnant / breastfeeding
Currently using accutane or have used accutane within the past year
Are on blood thinning meds that you cannot come off of (with a approval from a doctor) before your appointment
Taking antibiotics leading up to/ during the healing process (please check with me on this one if you are using antibiotics)
Have actively inflamed rosacea in the service area
Are currently undergoing cancer treatments (must be through with any type of chemo/ radiation treatments for 6 months minimum)
Are currently inflamed with a fever blister or cold sore
Are dealing with an untreated/ unregulated auto-immune disorder
Are dealing with untreated/ unregulated diabetes
Undergoing any type of emotional or physical stress that would hinder your bodies ability to prioritize the healing process
Are not willing to follow all protocol leading up to your appointment and during your healing process
Protocol leading up to your Permanent Makeup service:
12 hours before your appointment do not consume more than 1 glass of alcohol or 1 cup of coffee
Please avoid salty foods the day before and day of the appointment- salt intake increases swelling and puffiness
No physical activity the day of the appointment- this will increase your likelihood of bleeding and unnecessary swelling
No steamy hot showers the morning of your appointment
Starting 7 days prior to your appointment no fish oils, anticoagulants, or other forms of blood thinning medications, supplements, or vitamins including but not limited to warfarin (coumadin), aspirin, plavix. For obvious reasons please do not stop using any medications without first consulting with your primary care physician
Discontinue the use of any Retin-A, retinols, AHA’s, glycolic acids and any other skin lightening treatments at least 14 days before your appointment
Avoid serious sun exposure for at least 14 days leading up to your appointment (absolutely no fresh burns, no recovering burned skin, and no unnatural or artificial tans)
Keep your skin moisturized and hydrate your body leading up to your appointment
Avoid any anti acne or anti ageing skin serums or treatments for 14 days leading up to the appointment
If you are using a brow hair enhancing serum or a lash enhancing serum and are considering a Brow or Eyeliner appointment, please discontinue use 4 weeks prior to your appointment. These serums can sensitize the skin and make working on the skin much harder
If you are a botox/ filler gal you must be 14 days healed from receiving that treatment before receiving an appointment with me. Please contact me with questions on this*
You will not be able to receive your brow service if you are actively inflamed with a fever blister or cold sore. Clients that have had, or are prone to fever blisters or cold sores, you MUST take a prescribed medication (such as Valtrex or Zovirax) prescribed by your doctor or dentist several days before, during, and after your permanent makeup appointment
Good attitudes are the best vibes 😁 and also showing up on a full stomach with some water and some type of power bar if you get hungry easily
